What are you getting yourself into?  My-HeartCheck makes it easy to not only host a screening, but also for parents to register their kids. We do all the heavy lifting so all you need to do is provide a location, communicate the opportunity to parents, and open the door the day of the event.

How My-HeartCheck comes together to impact kid’s lives.  My-HeartCheck is supported by outside funding that help us offer the highest quality program while keeping the cost of testing to a minimum. One of the requirements to sustain this funding is that we ensure efficient use of those resources. This means reaching the maximum number of kids possible at each event.

A couple of things we have learned.  We find parents/guardians really appreciate schools and organizations offering these tests and say so when they come to the event. Parents will thank you for providing such an affordable and convenient process to assure their kids hearts are strong and heart healthy. They often hear about kids unexpectedly collapsing and wonder if it could happen to their child. We also know it is a great way for your organization to know if there are kids with undetected heart conditions playing sports on your watch.

Our request of you.  We know parents react to different types of messaging from your organization. We hope you would treat this message like you would other highly important messages that you send home. This is one of the best opportunities for parents to learn if their child has a hidden heart condition which can be the difference between life and death.

How we get things done…

Step 1.  Identify a date for the screening that works for both you and My-HeartCheck.

Step 2.  Identify the right location and space to hold the event. Typically, a gym, commons area or large classroom. The location should be easily accessible for families and needs to be approx. 30′ x 40′ of open space.

Step 3.  Get the provided message to mom and dad through direct email and social media. Communication to families should typically begin 6-8 weeks prior to the screening date.

 

How together, we impact the most lives:

  • Email Blast
    1. We supply a custom message in text format to copy and paste into your email system and a digital flyer to attach for distribution to parents. We know there are many ways organizations communicate with their families but the most effective is to copy and paste the text document we provide. The initial message should be sent a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the screening date for parents to have time to register.
    2. My-HeartCheck is intended for all kids ages 8 to 25 It’s important the message is sent to all families with kids within that age range.
  • Social Media
    1. Facebook and Twitter have become another way to supplement the direct email and is especially important in reminding parents to register their kids prior to the event date. Please follow us at @MyHeartCheck on all social media platforms and be sure to share posts that we tag your organization in.

Our goal is making sure kids are safe to participate in all activities. Heart issues for adolescents might not sound like a big issue, but facts are 1 in 100 kids are born with some sort of heart abnormality and detection of such issues requires specific testing only provided through My-HeartCheck events. Add to that the fact most kids (and their parents) believe they are invincible health-wise, which makes this issue a blind spot for many parents. As many as 7,000 kids and their families learn about this blind spot the hard way on an annual basis. We hope you are able to make parents aware of this opportunity.

Cancellation policy: A full refund for cancellations will be honored if written notice is received at least 5 days prior to your scheduled event. Requests must be sent to info@myheartcheck.org. A full refund, minus a $25.00 processing fee, will be honored for any cancellation requests received less than 5 days prior to your scheduled event. Within 48 hours of your appointment date, we are unable to honor appointment changes or cancellations. No refunds will be provided for missed appointments. ATS reserves the right to cancel a screening event in the unlikely event of insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances. If an event is canceled or postponed, ATS will provide full refunds for registration fees but cannot be held responsible for other costs or expenses.
